Summer Schedule
The Salinas Valley Samba has a
full slate of games, school demos, and community oriented
activities lined up for the Summer of '09.
Be it teaching kids at Asthma camp how to
safely exercise, or playing the best teams from around the
region and beyond... the Samba look forward to seeing you on the pitch,
at the schools, or in the camps this Summer!

Samba Draw with Sol Friday
Night 1-1

Sonoma, CA
In a well played physical game Friday night in Sonoma against
the always talented Sol, the Samba drew to a 1-1 tie with their
wine country rivals. The longstanding duel between these clubs,
which has seen more than its share of tense dramatic games
(memories of Samba vs. Sol from 2005... in both
victory
and defeat) continues Sunday
as the Samba host Sonoma at Watsonville High School Stadium,
kickoff is slated for 7pm.
Samba Opens with 2-1 win
The Salinas Valley
Samba kicked off its 2009 National Premier Soccer League season
with a 2-1 victory over the Southern Oregon Fuego at Watsonville
High School on Sunday night.
Ismael Ibarra put the
Samba on the board in the 11th minute with an acrobatic
goal that brought the crowd to its feet. In a race for a
thru ball from Samba midfielder Ivan Campos, Fuego GK
Brook Johnson came out of his box to beat Ibarra to the
ball, but shanked his clearance toward the left
sideline. Ibarra chased down the bouncing ball, spun
around and whipped a left-footed shot from 40 yards...
