We are Brian and Kirsten. We bought a boat, quit our jobs, sold everything, and decided to take a year off to go on the adventure of a lifetime. Join us while we learn how to live on a boat full time while exploring the East Coast of the United States.

Brian and I met in the summer of 2010. I was teaching sailing at the Saratoga Springs Sail Club in Ballston, NY, and Brian had an engineering internship and decided to take the sailing class. At the end of the week, I asked Brian to go to see the New York City Ballet with me. Neither of us knew if it was a date, but by the end, we were both sure.

Last summer we purchased Samba from an amazing couple who decided they no longer wanted to own their own boat. She is a 1978 Morgan 382 and with Samba came a whole host of amazing “stuff” that I’m sure we will get into later. But needless to say, we are in love. Samba is currently living on the West River in Maryland.

We have three more days of work, we sold our house and need to move out by this weekend. Our boat still needs a few major fixes before we can take off on our adventure fully (more of that to come). But we are excited and nervous and all of the emotions in between. Join us while we figure out how to leave our corporate jobs to become liveaboard sailors on this year long journey!
